Lumpkin County Wastewater Treatment Plant
Lumpkin County, Georgia
PeoplesQuigley | DCCM is supporting LCWSA in the development of a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in southern Lumpkin County. This facility is designed to support a proposed hospital and drive associated business and economic growth in the area.
Project Overview:
- Phased Development: The WWTP will be constructed in three phases, ultimately achieving a capacity of 1.0 MGD. Phase I will handle up to 0.25 MGD, with design elements to facilitate cost-effective expansions in Phase II (0.5 MGD) and Phase III (1.0 MGD).
- Effluent Quality: The facility will discharge to the Chestatee River, upstream of Lake Lanier, adhering to stringent effluent requirements to protect the sensitive watershed. Advanced treatment technology, including a membrane bioreactor (MBR) process, will ensure compliance with limits for nutrients and contaminants.
Key Design Features:
- MBR Technology: Incorporates biological process basins and membrane filtration to achieve exceptional effluent quality, removing organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other contaminants.
- Enhanced Phosphorus Removal: Includes chemical addition for phosphorus reduction to meet anticipated regulatory requirements.
- Environmental Considerations: Designed with flexibility to adapt to future regulatory limits, protecting water quality in the Lake Lanier watershed.
This innovative project demonstrates PeoplesQuigley | DCCM’s expertise in delivering cutting-edge wastewater solutions that balance community growth, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
